The Belvedere

The Belvedere, a cosy and accessible look-out station, is represented here by a model in 1:10 scale. Perched upon the southern-facing terrace of the Musée du Croix Rouge et du Croissant Rouge, it allows the passer-by, or the staff, to take a moment to pause in the area. Being largely protected from the sun, one can feel the warmth and pleasant atmosphere created by the design of the room.
A sequence of photos describing the entrance to our room, along the roof-like terrace and into our accommodating Belvedere.
The central rammed-earth pillar to the space, indispensable to the structural and atmospheric characteristics of the room.
On a more structural level, the construction is anchored to the ground by cages of rocks, underneath the benches, to avoid any movement of the room due to wind in the canvas on the walls on ceiling.
Benches are of course provided to allow for a place to rest and feel sheltered.
