The design of these tests allowed us to understand what rammed earth is: a good combination of earth and a precise quantity of water. The repetition of the same gestures also brought us technical knowledge such as the compaction of the ground and the formwork removal.
These pictures represent tests (useful for the whole BA) of different soil mixtures. These attempts can be composed of a single earth, a mixture of several of them or a superposition of different granula. In order to find the ideal composition for our rammed earth’s structures, 11 tests were carried out revealing various hardnesses, resistances and aesthetics.
