The original shelter idea, in a much smaller scale, at an earlier stage in the thought process. The idea has been transformed from the shelter being the focal point to the filling of the void with rammed earth throughout.
The Rammed Earth piece, which is the « clé de voûte » of the project, which sits proudly atop the plaster wall – the replica of the same ruin from the beginning. It has two miniature planks of wood that lay horizontally in the middle of the structure in order to anchor the shelter to the earth.
The complete wall. The rammed earth effectively is the mass needed to support the shelter, the four pillars being in no way attached to the wall, purely to the earth filling.
The shelter project in context, along with other projects and the rest of the ruin (structures located below ground are painted in black).
