This frame is composed by two structures : the first one fits into the pillar and frame the letterbox
We used the environment – here the pillar – to create the volume of the letterbox frame (pillar hat).

The second frame complete the structure using nothing else to be attached to the first frame. This one frame the common and human use of the letterbox. Alone, it seems like a straight and rectangular structure but when this second frame fits into the first one, it takes a 30 degrees angle.

The first challenge was the irregularity of the pillar : it is not as straight as it seems.
The other difficulty was to make a frame that fits perfectly into the pillar (which was irregular), and to create a second frame which didn’t need anything (screws, bolts), to be attached to the first one. For a better precision to make regular 30 degrees angle cuts, we did a template.
Also all the edges of the structure exceed 5 centimeters.
Junctions and edges shape (two wooden planks for a same edge) have been thinking based on a cube we did before at 1:10 scale for the wood dimensions.
