For this project, our purpose was to create a roof that not only reacted to its environment, but we wanted this reaction to produce and create something. Sounds, and more specifically Music. We then wanted to work with rain and not wind, which was a first challenge in itself. The water accumulates in the funnels closed with a lever cap. A mass is fixed at the other end of the lever as well as a wooden ball. As soon as the water is heavier than the weight of the mass, the cap opens by pivoting. The wooden ball then hits a piece of metal which will produce a musical note.

in western music there are 7 different scales, also called modes. Each of them has a different sound and musical atmosphere. Each of them is composed of 7 notes reproducible on 6 to 8 octaves. We have then 7 different structures going from 4 to 9 cells. Each of them is composed of 2 funnels that produce sound. Each installation will have then its own sound among one of the 7 modes and will invite people to come to experiment with these different sounds.
